3,000 audience members, more than 1,500 organizations reached, 70+ engagements, 26 flights, 2,000 miles driven, and even one train ride in Boston. Here’s a snapshot of what we’ve been up to in 2024.
This year, while on the road (and sometimes in the air), I had plenty of time to reflect on where YoPro Know started and where it’s taken me. When I picked up a microphone for the first time back in 2022, speaking to my local SHRM group (shout-out to GSHRM!), I couldn’t have dreamed that I’d soon be traveling nationwide, talking about how workplaces can help all generations thrive. It’s been a wild, wonderful ride filled with audiences from every industry, sharing stories and insights that have helped to shape what we do here at YPK.
Now, as we prepare for an even bigger 2025—yes, we’re talking international!—I wanted to pause and share a few of the standout lessons you all have taught our team. Because ultimately, this work is powered by your questions, your drive, and your commitment to making workplaces better. Here are some of the key takeaways from our time together this year:
- Experienced professionals are on board with mentoring and learning from the next generation. I’m constantly inspired by how genuinely leaders want to see their younger teammates succeed. Sometimes there’s a gap—thanks to a bit of miscommunication or even good old stereotypes—but there’s also a huge desire to bridge that gap and work side by side. You guys are the real deal when it comes to fostering growth and connection.
- Generational awareness is better than you might think. Forget what you see in the media; there’s a strong understanding that generational diversity is an asset, not a hurdle. Interactive games like Generational Bingo and breakouts aren’t just fun—they show us how seriously you’re taking this and just how willing you are to learn. And the enthusiasm you bring to the table? I’m a fan!
- Young professionals? They’re ready to go—all in. Despite some chatter about work ethic and productivity, the younger leaders I meet are motivated. They may not show it in the same way as previous generations, but trust me, they’re committed to making a difference. So if you’re not seeing the results you want, maybe the question to ask is, “How are we motivating them?”
- Generational identity hits home. People get personal when we dive into generational identity. There’s a certain trust that comes out in these sessions, and it allows people to get real about what matters to them. It’s one of the most powerful parts of this job, and I’m grateful for it every time.
With over 70 sessions this year, we have heard a few questions come up again and again. Here are some of the greatest hits from 2024:
- How do we balance “work-life” while still getting the job done?
- How do we encourage punctuality with our younger staff (i.e., getting to work on time)?
- How do we customize communication for a large, diverse team?
- What role do micro-generations play in your research?
These are big questions, and they all point back to the same goal: you’re all in on making the workplace better for everyone. And don’t worry—we’ll tackle some of your most-asked questions in the coming year!
So, What’s Next in 2025?
Next year, we’re taking everything we’ve learned and doubling down. Expect new training programs that build on what we started in our keynotes, with actionable strategies for leading in a hybrid world, setting workplace expectations (we’re talking dress code and punctuality!), adapting to AI, and more. You’ve shared what matters to you, and we’re here to help make it happen.
Before signing off, I just want to say thank you again. Because of you, I get to do what I love, and our team is grateful for every chance we’ve had to work alongside you. Here’s to more milestones, more insights, and a whole lot more fun in 2025.
